The Samuel Eric Storm Memorial Scholarship at the Community Foundation for Mississippi has awarded its first scholarship to Kate Bowen. Created to honor a life dedicated to helping others heal and thrive, this new scholarship supports students pursuing degrees in physical, occupational, or speech therapy.
A native of Madison, Mississippi, Kate is currently pursuing her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. Her journey into the field reflects the same compassion, community spirit, and commitment to healing that defined Eric Storm’s life.
Kate graduated with high honors from Delta State University with a degree in Exercise Science. During her time there, she served as president of the Association of Future Healthcare Professionals, held leadership roles in Kappa Delta Sorority, and was recognized as Outstanding Major of the Year. She also contributed as an orientation leader and was active in several academic honor societies.
Looking ahead, Kate hopes to serve her patients and community with personalized rehabilitation and faith-filled care. As she puts it, she strives to be “a reflection of God’s love and grace in all that she does.”
The $2,500 scholarship was created by Eric’s wife, Kathy Storm, to honor Eric’s lifelong dedication to healing—first as a physical therapist, then as a business founder. Eric, who passed away in 2024, believed deeply in lifting others up, and his legacy lives on through this scholarship.
