The Community Trust Fund

A shared approach to supporting nonprofit work across Mississippi.

Community impact is amplified when you give to the Community Foundation for Mississippi’s Community Trust Fund.

Grants and programs funded through the Community Trust Fund are made possible by donors who choose to pool their charitable giving with a network of other donors. This pooled model allows your gift to make an accelerated impact no matter how large or small your contribution.

Your contributions to the Community Trust Fund will support local nonprofits as they launch new projects, will respond to community needs and make possible the growth of new ideas emerging from the nonprofit field. As one of CFMs most impactful endowment funds, we invite you to join with others to make your gift go further by making a contribution to CFM's Community Trust Fund.

“The Community Trust Fund is about what becomes possible when people give together. It allows us to support ideas that are rooted in community—projects that reflect real needs, real momentum, and real opportunity. When resources are pooled, the impact goes further.”

— Melody Moody Thortis, CFM’s Director of Strategic Impact and Programs

The Community Trust Fund at Work

The Community Trust Fund helps support several of CFM’s competitive grant programs, which provide funding to nonprofits and community-based projects across our 22-county service area.

Rural Leveraging Matching Grants

Rural Leveraging Matching Grants help rural communities bridge funding gaps for larger grant-funded efforts that have community support but need additional resources to move forward.

These grants are focused on community-wide impact, including historic preservation, sidewalks and bike trails, tourism, economic development, stakeholder engagement and charrette-style planning.

Community Impact Grants

Community Impact Grants provide up to $5,000 to nonprofit organizations across CFM’s 22-county service area, helping move ideas from concept to reality, from summer education programs and skills-building initiatives to turning underused spaces into food distribution sites.

In the most recent cycle, funding reached organizations in every county CFM serves, reflecting both the breadth of need and the strength of local ideas.

Nonprofit Capacity Building Mini-Grants

Nonprofit Capacity Building Mini-Grants help 501(c)(3) nonprofits in CFM’s service area access professional development and organizational support.

Organizations may apply for assistance with training, workshops, nonprofit consulting, strategic planning, board development, evaluation, fundraising, grant writing and other capacity-building needs.
