Helping Friends
& Neighbors Fund
A rapid response fund created to help Mississippi communities navigate disasters and unexpected crises.
The Helping Friends and Neighbors Fund is meant to meet urgent needs as they emerge, from food and clean water to debris removal, equipment, and emergency assistance.
Over the years, the fund has supported response and recovery efforts tied to the Jackson water crisis, tornadoes in Lincoln and Lawrence Counties, rebuilding efforts at Beth Israel Congregation, and other emergencies across the region.
Because needs can shift quickly during a crisis, the fund is designed to remain flexible, helping organizations respond in real time to challenges.
“When a disaster happens, we want to be able to call organizations on the ground, ask what they need most in that moment.”
— Sophie McNeil Wolf, APR, Director of Communications and Insights, Community Foundation for Mississippi
