Stand Tall Mississippi Fund
Preserving the places and stories of Mississippi’s Civil Rights history.
Stand Tall, Mississippi is a documentary project focused on the remaining Freedom Houses, Freedom Schools and other landmarks connected to the Civil Rights Era in Mississippi.
These places served as gathering spaces, safe havens and centers of organizing during a pivotal period in the state’s history. As many of them face loss or erasure, the project works to document their stories and highlight the courage of the people and communities connected to them.
The Stand Tall Mississippi Fund supports completion and distribution of the documentary, along with educational and awareness efforts that help more people learn about and understand the significance of these historic places.
