Scott Ford House Charitable Fund
Preserving an important African American historic site in Jackson.
Scott Ford Houses, Inc. is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the Scott Ford Houses, a significant African American historic site in Jackson. Its work brings together historic preservation, public history, education, community engagement and health equity.
The organization is developing a house museum complex that will include two historic houses, a wash house, chicken coop and gardens. The project continues the vision of Dr. Alferdteen Brown Harrison by centering Black women’s knowledge, honoring everyday labor and preserving stories that might otherwise be lost.
The Scott Ford House Charitable Fund supports the organization’s work to restore the site, develop the museum and create opportunities for people to learn from and engage with this history.
