Three art teachers from around Mississippi are the latest recipients of art supply grants from the Community Foundation for Mississippi’s Friends of Andrew Bucci Fund, which was created to honor the memory of Andrew Bucci (1922-2014), one of Mississippi’s most celebrated and prolific visual artists.

Launched during the #Bucci100 celebration in 2022, the grant program helps Mississippi public, parochial and private school art teachers acquire supplies that support visual arts instruction for grades PreK-12. This year’s recipients are:
· Nefertiti Harris - Empowered Prep Academy in Jackson, Miss.
· Toni Moran - Pass Christian Elementary School in Pass Christian, Miss.
· Alecia Russell - Olive Branch High School in Olive Branch, Miss.

Grants were evaluated based on how applicants connected their projects to the artist’s artwork and biography.
“As an art teacher, it means so much to me to be able to give our students experiences like this and introduce them to the incredible legacy of Andrew Bucci,” said Toni Moran of Pass Christian Elementary School. “Your generosity is allowing our students to learn, create, dream, and experience the arts in a way they may not otherwise have the opportunity to do.”
Members of the community are also encouraged to contribute to the Friends of Andrew Bucci Fund through CFM’s website. Gifts in memory of Bucci can be made here.
