Field of Interest Fund

A field of interest fund with the Community Foundation for Mississippi allows you to invest in the causes you care most about.

A field of interest fund allows you to focus your giving on a specific cause such as education, health, the arts, or another area that matters to you.

Instead of naming one organization, you define the focus. CFM then identifies and supports nonprofits doing strong work in that area, directing grants where they can have the most impact.

Because the fund is designed to last over time, it can continue to support that cause as needs change, helping ensure your giving stays relevant and effective.

This approach is especially helpful if you care deeply about an issue but don’t have a single organization in mind. It allows you to stay focused on what matters most, while relying on local knowledge and experience to guide how funds are distributed.

Friends of Andrew Bucci Fund

FUND SPOTLIGHT

The Friends of Andrew Bucci Fund honors the legacy of one of Mississippi’s most celebrated visual artists by supporting art teachers across the state. Established at the Community Foundation for Mississippi, the fund helps public, parochial, and private school teachers access supplies that support visual arts instruction for PreK–12 students.

The fund reflects Bucci’s own experience as a young artist. He often credited early teachers who recognized and encouraged his talent—an influence that shaped his lifelong work. Today, the fund carries that forward by helping teachers create meaningful, hands-on learning experiences in the classroom.

LGBTQ Fund of Mississippi

FUND SPOTLIGHT

The LGBTQ Fund of Mississippi supports organizations working to improve the quality of life for LGBTQ Mississippians. This field of interest fund invests in programs that address needs identified across the state, from healthcare and housing to advocacy, education, and community support.

In 2025, the fund awarded more than $133,000 to organizations across Mississippi, guided by insights from the statewide LGBTQ+ Needs Assessment. Recent recipients include Big House Books, which provides LGBTQ materials to incarcerated individuals; Five Horizons Health Services, which offers medical care and HIV services; Grace House, which supports transgender individuals with access to housing and essential resources; and the Spectrum Center, which works to advance inclusion and support in the Pine Belt region.

As the state’s first grantmaking fund focused on LGBTQ communities, the fund continues to direct resources where they are most needed—supporting organizations and programs working across Mississippi.
