Mockbee Better Together Fund
Preserving and sharing the life, work and legacy of Samuel Mockbee.

Architect and educator Samuel Mockbee is widely known for his influence on architecture, design education and the American South. A longtime Jacksonian and co-founder of Auburn University’s Rural Studio, Mockbee challenged architects to think more deeply about responsibility, place and the people their work serves.
The Better Together project is bringing more of Mockbee’s story into public view through a collection of more than 300 original artifacts, including drawings, journals, correspondence and personal objects, many of which have never been publicly exhibited.
The Mockbee Better Together Fund supports efforts to preserve, celebrate and expand access to Mockbee’s work, life, art and archives. Support for the fund can help make exhibitions, collections, archival work and other public-facing projects possible while keeping the heart of the work rooted in Mississippi.
