Mississippi Opera Association Designated Endowment Fund
Supporting opera and musical experiences for audiences across Mississippi.
Opera Mississippi, founded as the Mississippi Opera Association in 1945, is Mississippi’s only professional opera company, a founding member of Opera America and one of the oldest continuously operating opera companies in the United States.
For decades, the organization has brought nationally and internationally recognized singers to Mississippi while also creating opportunities for regional artists and audiences across the state. Its programming includes fully staged opera productions, musical theatre, popular music performances, cabarets, educational performances for students and community outreach for audiences of all ages.
Opera Mississippi also hosts the John Alexander National Vocal Competition, which recognizes outstanding singers in opera and musical theatre and brings emerging artists from across the country to Mississippi.
The Mississippi Opera Association Designated Endowment Fund provides long-term support for Opera Mississippi’s mission to entertain, educate and connect audiences through high-quality musical experiences while helping strengthen the state’s cultural and artistic life.
