Janet Leach Memorial Fund
Honoring a life dedicated to golf in Mississippi by supporting the next generation of women in the game.
Janet Leach spent 22 years with the Mississippi Development Authority Tourism Division, where she promoted golf across the state and helped share Mississippi with golfers and visitors around the world. She also served as a liaison for two PGA Tour events in Mississippi and, in 2015, became the first woman to receive the Carpenter-Lindsay Award from the PGA Gulf States Section and Mississippi Chapter for her service to the game.
After Leach’s death in 2017, the Janet Leach Memorial Fund was established to carry that legacy forward.
The fund provides an annual scholarship to a Mississippi female student connected to golf, whether through competition or golf-related studies. The scholarship is not based solely on playing ability, and special consideration is given to students attending smaller Mississippi universities and community colleges, as well as those who may need additional financial support.
The scholarship application process is managed through the Mississippi Golf Association. If no eligible student is identified, funding may instead support girls’ golf programs at smaller schools across the state.
