Friends of Thalia Mara Hall Fund
The Friends of Thalia Mara Hall Fund supports the preservation and ongoing revitalization of one of Mississippi’s historic performing arts venues.
For more than 50 years, Thalia Mara Hall has served as a cultural landmark in downtown Jackson, hosting generations of performances, concerts, productions, and community events. Named for Mississippi ballet pioneer Thalia Mara, the hall is best known as the longtime home of the USA International Ballet Competition and remains an important part of Mississippi’s arts community.
As the building aged and renovation needs grew, community leaders, donors, and public partners came together to create the Friends of Thalia Mara Hall Fund at the Community Foundation for Mississippi. The fund helped support major renovations to restore and modernize the historic venue while preserving its role as a center for arts and culture in the state.
Through a combination of private donations, city investment, and state support, renovations were completed in time for the 2014 USA International Ballet Competition, and Thalia Mara Hall reopened again in January following its latest round of renovations.
The Friends of Thalia Mara Hall Fund reflects a shared commitment to preserving spaces where communities gather and the arts continue to thrive in Mississippi.
