Anthony “Tony” Gobar dedicated his career to helping improve the lives of young people involved in the juvenile justice system.
Anthony “Tony” Gobar
After beginning his work in community-based job training programs in Louisiana, Gobar moved to Jackson, Mississippi, where he served in multiple leadership and program roles focused on juvenile justice and youth services. Throughout his career, he became known for his integrity, compassion, and deep commitment to helping young people and strengthening the systems designed to support them.
The Anthony “Tony” Gobar Juvenile Justice Scholarship Fund was created to continue that legacy by supporting students preparing for careers connected to juvenile justice, advocacy, counseling, and community support.
The scholarship is awarded to a full-time junior or senior enrolled at a public university in Mississippi or Southern University in Louisiana who is majoring in criminal justice, political science, social work, pre-law, sociology, counseling, or a related field, with a demonstrated interest in juvenile justice or youth advocacy.
Through this scholarship, Tony Gobar’s commitment to service continues to invest in the next generation of leaders working to support young people and strengthen communities.
